New work | Lea Ved
Lea's work is best described as playful, poetic, soft, and a little dreamy. Lea has danced with Nederlands Dans Theater (NDT) for many years and is now a maker in residence at Korzo. In this double bill, she collaborates with former NDT dancer Spencer Dickhaus. About this, she says the following:
We tap into a kind of imagined place, a state; to briefly retreat from and process an ever saturating world of information. Around the eternal stirring thought, is a hunger for space to brew. A radio silence to exist inside of. To deal with interruption, both welcome and rejected. Here we sit with reaction, question, emotion, consideration. We look at our behavior in a space where ingredients are in flux, in harmony, in fight. There is a dichotomy of desire for independence, and an undeniable inter-dependence. Amidst the complex systems we are in tension with, attempting to understand, this momentary escape is both a relief and increasingly difficult to cultivate. Alongside dancer Spencer Dickhaus and composer Boris de Klerk, I attempt to translate this liminal nomadic space.
Thu Hương | Tú Hoàng
Autumn scent. That is – roughly translated – the meaning of ‘Thu Hương’, the mother of choreographer Tú Hoàng. With his latest creation he pays homage to his mother and celebrates the beauty of women.
Tú does so by harking back to his days as a classically trained dancer. The performance showcases two dancers in a flowing mix of classic Vietnamese folk dance and contemporary dance. A choreography that breathes and flows, with delicate gestures and precise movements. With ‘Thu Hương’, Tú shows his love for his mother and reflects on mother-son bond they share.
Tú Hoàng is a maker in residence at Korzo. In 2024 he toured the Netherlands with his work False Memories during DansClick.
