“In the hope of a more accommodating, emancipatory, and gentler future we need to ponder more how we ‘know’ what we know, under what circumstances and through what ‘methods’, lenses and gazes we might access the ‘world’, how we relate to others and negotiate our own relationship to what we look at, think and write about, and how this already changes both the world and ourselves in it”

What is (world) politics? What is power? And are we able to influence the structures that shape it, or are we influenced by those structures? ‘World politics; three times’, delves into three theoretical ideas; liberalism, poststructuralism, and relational cosmology.
Boaz, who just got a job as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for the International Relations Theory (IRT) course at the University of Leiden, is trying to find his place. He has to figure out how to relate to the world around him, but the world seems rather different each time…
Play with theories plays with theorizing the real
Plays play with theorizing the real playfully
Playful plays don’t always theorize the real realistically
Unplayful plays theorize the real no more realistically than playful plays
Players playing in a play portray real players in a world that is theorized
Reality plays a role in plays
Place plays a role in plays
Place where the play’s players play with reality like in reality
